Many law departments need an efficient way to
track how much time their staff is spending on specific business units or
types of legal work. Serengeti provides an optional
tool that allows them to quickly gather this data on the matters already in the
system or create special "Time-entry Only" matters for administrative
tasks and special projects.
track
internal time without complicated setup
Unlike law firm time and billing systems that are difficult to integrate
and require significant setup, Serengeti's built-in time entry module
provides law departments the same functionality in an efficient,
ready-to-use module. Users can quickly allocate their weekly time by
either hours or percentage using an interface that they are already
familiar with—no training required. Optional alerts help users know
when their time allocations are due.
Reporting and Analysis
Once internal time is collected, Serengeti uses each timekeeper's
fully burdened cost to calculate their individual hourly rate. That rate
translates into in-house spending which can be viewed by business
unit, practice group, matter category, substantive law, matter, or
user—including comparisons of internal time costs versus outside counsel
fees.
Reports allow managers to quickly analyze attorney workloads,
projects that are taking a significant amount of in-house resources, and
comparisons of managing work in-house or sending it to outside counsel.
Exports simplify the process of allocating time to specific business
units and delivering the cost data to business managers and AP or finance
departments. |
